Liz Goldberg has been in the design world for more than three decades! The CT native and long-time Glastonbury resident started her own interior design firm, Goldberg Design LLC, in 1988, just eight years after graduating from UConn. Liz LOVES helping people create spaces where they can live, relax, and spend time with family and friends. Shortly after launching her firm, she saw an opportunity to offer more to her clients and took over an upholstery business as an extension of her design services. That business is now known as The Custom Shop! Her incredibly talented team of artisans use their hands to transform pieces into gorgeous works of art for their clients. Her little shop on New London Turnpike is cozy and bright. She has everything you need there to pick out the right fabric or material to upgrade your space. In her spare time, Liz enjoys traveling to faraway places, where she has been able to enhance her design skills by being immersed in different cultures. NEW BUSINESS: THE APIARY COLLECTIVE CO.
Exciting news! Glastonbury's own Lisa DiBenedetto-owner of Nightingale Events, a wedding planning and design firm has opened a new business! Through her work, she recognized a need for flexible spaces. So this creative entrepreneur launched another new business...THE APIARY COLLECTIVE CO. It's essentially a designated space available for rent by the hour or day for branding, headshots, maternity, family, boudoir, or social media content creation. It can also be used for client meetings or co-working. It's located in Hartford and is truly STUNNING. Bright white space...vintage wood flooring...modern decor. The name: APIARY is a place where bees are kept, a collection of beehives. The bee is a symbol with ties close to Lisa's grandmother...someone who inspired her along the way. The space just feels good...as if you have been transported to an historic oasis. There will eventually be multiple locations with keyless entry and a seamless online booking process. Glitter Girl's Spa, on the corner of Sycamore and New London Turnpike is FOR SALE! The owner, Melissa, is grappling with some health issues and is not able to continue operating the business. The sale includes all merchandise and furniture, a client base, the website, and the owner's amazing reputation! The boutique has 5-STAR ratings on Google and Facebook. SUNSHINE KIDS GOLF TOURNAMENT SEEKING SPONSORS/GOLFERS
The local Berkshire Hathaway Home Services office is hosting their 15th annual golf tournament this September to raise money for Sunshine Kids. The non-profit helps kids with cancer smile. The money raised goes directly to kids who are fighting cancer in Connecticut. They host local programs, events, and even national trips for the kids. Some examples include celebrity meet and greets, professional sporting events, holiday parties, and more. Their goal is to help the kids be kids while they are going through treatment. The sponsorship opportunities for the golf tournament are SUPER AFFORDABLE! They range from $100 for Hole sponsorships to $1,800 for a Beverage sponsorship. *The proposal to construct a delivery area on the west side of the current building at 400 Hebron Avenue in order to accommodate a Trader Joe's, has PASSED! That means the specialty grocery store will be coming to the space soon. We had initially heard during one of the TPZ meetings that they were aiming to OPEN this fall, but these things take time, so we will keep you posted!
*Also NEW to that building is Saybrook Home. During the Trader Joe's TPZ meeting, they announced the high-end furniture store has signed a lease for the space next to Trader Joe's. They have another location in Old Saybrook. Check them out on Insta for a look at some of their offerings!

Liz and her staff at the Custom Shop are wonderful!! I love local and made in the USA! Liz helped me refurbish all my patio furniture and create a space that every time I walk out to the patio it makes me so HAPPY! Wonderful craftmanship and customer service! Highly recommend!
