PIZZERIA AT FORMER PIATTI…MEET THE MOST HELPFUL PERSON IN TOWN

HERE’S THE SCOOP…

CELEBRITY CHEF TO BRING NEW LIFE TO OLD PIATTI

Celebrity Chef Tyler Anderson and his partner, Bruce Kalman, are bringing a pizzeria/vintage arcade to town. We have confirmed with sources who have direct involvement that the location will be the old Piatti on Hebron Avenue. They are currently finalizing details. This is super exciting, because it’s actually part of a larger plan that includes opening up several locations across the country. The Glastonbury location will be the first. Anderson owns Millwright’s Restaurant in Simsbury, The Cook & The Bear in West Hartford, and Porron & Pina in Hartford. He rose to fame after competing on the hit show Top Chef.

FORMER POLICE OFFICER OFFERING COMPANION CARE

We don’t think we’ve ever met anyone quite like Steve Lamantini. He literally radiates kindness. The former Norwich police officer recently launched his own business called Lions Share Family Services. It’s concierge-based companion care for individuals and families. Some examples of his service include taking people to doctor’s appointments, shopping or golfing with clients, accompanying them on an airplane to get them safely to their location and settled, or even shuttling kids to sports or lessons and getting them fed. He might be the nicest person we’ve met and all he wants to do is help people. Find him here.

Sandy Cassanelli is on a mission and with good reason. The wife and mom of two girls is battling metastatic breast cancer….an incurable form of the disease. She recently found out her tumors have grown and treatment is not working. Two and a half years ago, she started Breast Friends Fund. 100% of funds raised (that’s right…EVERY PENNY) goes toward metastatic breast cancer research to FIND A CURE. She has raised nearly $200,000 since she started and wants to raise $100,000 more this year. Check out these local businesses to see how you can help.

FOUNDATION HELPS KIDS PLAY SPORTS

We love the name and the mission of Carry My Brother. This Glastonbury-based non-profit helps kids in low income families play sports…literally the foundation for many of life’s most beneficial lessons. Run by Attorney Joseph Jaconetta of Jaconetta, Burnham & Wimer, they give money to organizations such as little leagues in underserved communities. Without this money, sports might not be possible. Join them this Thursday for their annual fundraising event at Glastonbury Hills Country Club. Go to their Facebook page for event details. Guests include UConn’s head baseball coach, Jim Penders, and father of Houston Astros outfielder, George Springer. Don’t miss it!

ODDS AND ENDS…

*Orangetheory Fitness is holding a fundraiser for a mom of four who died tragically in a car accident in August. Nicole Miclette was killed when her car went off the road on Keeney Street. She left behind her husband and four children, along with many other family members. ANYONE CAN DONATE by visiting the fitness studio, but members are being asked to donate $1 per splat point.

*William Raveis Real Estate is hosting their 3rd Annual Stroll the Square this Tuesday, September 25th from 5:00 to 8:30 PM. Enjoy an evening of walking to restaurants in the center, including First & Last Tavern, The Diamond, and Rooftop 120. Each venue will offer food and drinks. Head to their Facebook page to buy tickets.

*Whole Tone Guitars is moving. They are currently closed while they move to their new location in The Griswold Shopping Center on Main Street next to the Sprint store. They will open at their new spot in early October.

*The Bushnell Park Carousel is now open Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM ALL YEAR LONG! There is a lot of work being done to the iconic 1914 carousel, including restoration of the horses and updates to the outside. It’s truly a throwback to a simpler time. Take a ride into the city and give your kids an experience to remember.

*We mentioned last week that The Beamhouse is open for lunch. Lunch hours are 11:30 AM Tuesday through Sunday. Check out the menu below.
