We also offer FEATURED SCOOP as advertising. We have three different options, including our premier VIDEO package that gives business owners a 2-minute promotional VIDEO that is theirs to KEEP for use on a website or social media. Email thescoopglastonbury@gmail.com for rates and information.
OK, LET’S GET TO THE SCOOP…
INTRODUCING THE FIRST INTERN FOR THE SCOOP
We are excited and actually pretty honored to announce that we will have an intern for the month of January. 19-year old Madison Schulman is studying Digital Media at Endicott College in Massachusetts. She graduated from Glastonbury High School in 2017. She will be with us for the next three weeks taking pictures, researching and writing stories.
OLD ANN TAYLOR SPACE FILLED
There is a new, boutique gym going into the old Ann Taylor space in The Shops at Somerset Square. The owner is excited to bring ‘The Hub’ to town. She is a health coach with Herbalife and plans to use her experience in all things health and fitness at this new location. The Hub will be one-stop for all levels of fitness and include a variety of classes. There will also be a shake bar and metabolism boosting tea. We will keep you posted on an opening date.
SOUTH GLASTONBURY BREWERY UPDATE
Things are coming together at the new Hops on the Hill Farm Brewery off Dug Road. The barn was lifted back in October to lay a cement foundation. They have since installed water, gas, and electricity to the site and insulated the barn from the outside to maintain the old interior. The next step is to add a black, metal roof and vintage style wooden barn slats. They hope to begin brewing by April and are shooting for an opening date this June. Check back with us for the next update on this exciting project!
OLD LOTTIES SPACE RENOVATED INTO SALON & SPA
Sundance Salon & Spa has moved into the old Lotties on New London Turnpike. They were previously located next to Subway on New London Turnpike in the center of town, but outgrew that space. Have you been by their new location? They cleaned up the outside of the building and it looks AWESOME! Love when things get a nice, little facelift. The interior is stunning with wood and crystal features. They offer all kinds of services that help you look good and relax. Check them out HERE.
BLISS BODY SOUL CHANGES NAME, MOVING TO NEW SPACE
Glastonbury-based, Bliss Body Soul, has changed their name to Root Down A Baptiste Yoga Community, and will soon open new space at The Linden in Hartford. Owner, Nicole Carango, has been teaching out of her home for several years, but her baptiste yoga classes have grown in popularity leading to this exciting transformation. She is currently renovating the space, which includes beautiful old brick walls and arched doorways. This is one of many exciting things happening in Hartford! We plan to follow her and show you the new space when it’s done.
