NEW CHIRO OFFERS COMPREHENSIVE APPROACH...HOPEWELL HEALTH SOLUTIONS' NEW THERAPY PROGRAM

HERE’S THE SCOOP…

NEW CHIRO IN GLASTONBURY OFFERS COMPREHENSIVE CARE

Dr. Phil Ruggiero has a passion for helping people that began when he became an E.M.T in high school and college. The Glastonbury resident started his post-college career in massage therapy, but most recently transitioned into Chiropractic care when he founded PR Chiropractic here in Glastonbury. Dr. Phil (as he is affectionately called by patients) offers a comprehensive and thorough approach that allows him to customize treatment. He doesn't believe one size fits all and works head to toe on the muscles and joints for full body care. Dr. Phil learned from some of the best of the best starting out when he was a massage therapist at a highly respected and successful Chiropractic office in CT and later working alongside elite surgeons in the Operating Room selling shoulder prosthetics. Because of this, he has a natural understanding of how the body works and responds to treatment. The time he spends with patients and the thoughtful way he provides care is a testament to his love for helping people feel better. We know...he helped us become pain free after three years of issues. In his spare time, Dr. Phil is a CrossFit coach at several locations in the Hartford area. He also loves biking, golfing, and taking his dog, Remy, for hikes on the weekends. To book an initial consult, click HERE.

HOPEWELL HEALTH SOLUTIONS OFFERS FIRST EVER INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT PROGRAM

If you have not been introduced to Hopewell Health Solutions (named after Hopewell Road since the practice started in a building across the street and symbolized the work), we are excited to showcase this unique and thriving mental health practice! Dr. Kristine Schlichting founded HHS in 2012 to break through barriers when it came to talk therapy. She succeeded, growing the practice to 17 specialists in Glastonbury and West Hartford. The team recently expanded their offerings, introducing the first ever Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). The program is tailored to fit each patient and includes a robust family therapy counseling component that helps teens and their families reestablish a solid foundation. This program is intended for teens 12 to 18 years old who have not found success in traditional once per week therapy sessions and need more intensive treatment.

It will be run by Dr. Robert Stine, an Integrative Psychiatrist who works to help individuals access their own inner resources to heal their suffering. He will have a team of licensed therapists with him, including Katharine Salvador, who believes that the use of medication combined with cognitive therapies such as mindfulness can be life changing.

The IOP will be held four times per week Monday through Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM for 8 weeks and they are currently ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS. If you are interested in learning more, there will be an OPEN HOUSE on February 9th from 5:30 to 7:00 PM (300 Hebron Avenue Suite 203, Glastonbury, CT).

NEW MARTIAL ARTS, JIU-JITSU STUDIO NOW OPEN

Glastonbury resident, Jay Rivera, recently opened his own Jiu Jitsu studio in town. Jay is an impressive person with a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He has been practicing the martial art for years, winning multiple tournaments and living his life based on the tenets of the sport. Jay started as a way to stay fit but found mental and spiritual benefits as well. F.I.T.E. Fit is located at 2217 New London Turnpike (lower floor of the the plaza with Subway - in between the country store and the Lottie's plaza). It's a great space that offers a feel-good vibe. There are multiple classes offered by different, high-level instructors including recently added kids classes that will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:15 to 6:00 PM. The sport teaches kids confidence, respect, and discipline, and helps them accept defeat as part of the growth process. If you'd like to learn more and meet Jay (he's a gem!), there is an OPEN HOUSE February 12th from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. There will be demos and you can get a FREE week of classes if you register before the official start of the kids' program. Check out their website to learn more: www.joinfitefit.com

BIRCH HILL SOLD TO NEW OWNERS

We have been receiving a lot of questions about this....YES....Birch Hill Tavern has been sold! Jessica Cote and Robert Nicholson are now officially the owners of the beloved restaurant. Jess started in the restaurant business in 1999 at The Main Pub in Manchester where the owner Glen Beaulieu gave her a great foundation on the principles of restaurant ownership. She later worked at Cavey's before they closed in 2019. That's when she accepted a position as Assistant General Manager at Birch Hill. When she was approached by longtime owner Bill Driggs to buy the restaurant, the opportunity seemed to be a natural choice. Her partner, Bob, works full-time as an engineer, but has a deep-seated passion for food. He runs the Hartford Chapter of the Chaine Des Rotisseurs, the oldest fine dining food club in the country (it's FANNNCY!!!). The two are delighted to be part of Glastonbury. Birch has always been one of our absolute FAVES and Jess is the sweetest, best person. We are so happy for her and Bob! The menu has been through some transitions over the years, but many of the old favorites are back and better than ever!
