HERE’S THE SCOOP…
HAPPY 10 TO LIQUID NIRVANA
Liquid Nirvana Juice & Smoothie Bar is celebrating 10 years in business! No easy feat...YAYYY!!! It all began when owner, Rosy Kapur purchased a Vitamix at home and began experimenting with different, healthy juice combinations. Her family noticed a difference in their health almost immediately and began to think about how they could bring this to the community. Hence, Liquid Nirvana was born (the name speaks for itself!). Since opening their first location in Glastonbury, they have expanded to both Avon and Farmington. They offer whole fruit smoothies, smoothie bowls, protein shakes, meal replacement smoothies, wellness shots, juice detox programs, an invigorating juices. Our absolute fave is the PB&J Acai bowl! In honor of this major business milestone, they are giving away a $100 gift card each week throughout the month of January. Check their Instagram or Facebook for details! Cheers to 10 more years Rosy and team!
HOPEWELL ROAD APARTMENT COMPLEX PASSES TPZ
Town Planning & Zoning has passed a motion to develop an 8-30g apartment complex at 36 Hopewell Road a few doors up from 2 Hopewell. The vote was 6-1 with Bob Zanlungo voting against the proposal. The complex would be 3.5 stories with 42 apartments. The developer plans to keep the existing home on the property and renovate it. The rendering below shows the new building. Stay tuned for a timeline on this!
WHAT WE ARE WATCHING FOR 2025
New owners for Red Fox
We have heard from multiple sources that Red Fox Prime in Glen Lochen has SOLD and will be renamed and rebranded. We have reached out, but have not heard back yet. We are told new signage will go up this week, so stay tuned!
Downtown Development
The proposal to build apartments along with new restaurant and retail space across from the fountain is slowly making it's way through the town approval process. There was a public hearing December 10th where the Town Council expressed concerns about parking. Developers felt that they would be able to appease those concerns. Stay tuned for details after their next meeting.
New takeout restaurant
We connected recently with Chef Jordan Patrick about the takeout restaurant he and his wife are opening at 18 Concord Street (diagonally across from The Diamond parking lot). This will be mainly TAKE-OUT and CATERING, but they will also host small, intimate prix-fix dinners and private parties. He said they've been held up with town approvals, but hope to move forward in the next month or so! We will keep you updated on their timeline for opening.
Gutt Farm Apartment Complex
A developer is looking to build 64 luxury duplex apartments on the Gutt Farm property along Addison Road with an access point from Mill Street. They're planning to preserve the house on site to use it as a sales office. Nearby residents have formed The Addison Road Coalition in response to this proposal. They have concerns about traffic and increased school populations. We are keeping an eye on this as it goes through the town.
ODDS & ENDS...
