HERE’S THE SCOOP…
NOT YOUR TYPICAL MEDICALLY SUPERVISED WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAM
Doug Dorsey's new CT Medical Weight Loss practice on Sycamore Street is expanding and becoming a one-stop shop for weight loss and healthy living. Dorsey recently added red light and IV therapy to his offerings. This is in addition to weight loss plans that include GLP1 weight loss medications along with a nutrition and exercise program. His approach to medically supervised weight loss is a 180 to what you might expect or be hearing about in the media. Doug has a practical, thoughtful approach that includes eventually easing clients off the medication. He uses the meds as a tool to jumpstart weight loss, quiet 'food noise' (for those who think about food and what to eat non-stop), or help menopausal women get back to some sense of normalcy within their bodies. Essentially, Doug wants his clients to learn the habits of a healthy lifestyle while still losing weight. He himself is incredibly knowledgeable but also employs a team of medical professionals to help guide clients through the medication portion of the program. Doug is a motivator with an easy demeanor...the kind of guy you could sit and chat with about almost anything. Right now, he is offering a FREE month of red-light therapy or a FREE IV therapy treatment when you purchase a 3-month weight loss package. If you're interested in hearing more, there is an informational session on January 16th at 6:00 PM. Call to register 860.430.6317 or walk-in. And, don't miss the incredible before and after of Andi below!
SOFTBALL TRAINING FACILITY APPROVED
A new softball training facility is coming to 237 Oak Street. CKM Softball Academy will go into one of the spaces in the warehouse-style building with Highlight Landscape & Design. CKM is owned by four women (one is a softball coach at GHS) and will essentially be one-on-one softball training and cage rentals when the space is not otherwise in-use for training. See a rendering below. Stay tuned for an opening date.
COMING SOON IN 2024
MAGNOLIA SOAP COMPANY: They announced they are coming this February, so we stopped by their location in the new building next to The Fresh Monkee to see about their progress. Interior renovations seem to be in the beginning stages so stay tuned as we continue to follow them for an exact opening date.
SPECIALTY BOUTIQUE TO GLEN LOCHEN: There is a new specialty boutique coming to Glen Lochen. The shop is called Metanoia and will offer unique flower arrangements, vintage treasures, and gifts from local artisans. We are obsessing over the meaning of the business name: METANOIA. It's a combo of two Greek words essentially meaning the journey of changing one's heart, mind, self, or way of life. LOVEEEE!! Can't wait to see all the goodies she has in store. Expected open date in February!
ODDS & ENDS...

*We know it's early but get cracking on your summer plans for the kids, people! Summer Coding Camps are now posted online for The Glastonbury Coder School for ages 7 to 18. They offer multiple topics and platforms including Robotics, Lego, Roblox, Python, 3D Printing, Virtual Reality, Minecraft and more. There is currently an early bird discount of $49 dollars off each camp. To see the full schedule, click HERE.
*Excited to see what comes from a TPZ meeting Wednesday AM that will hopefully include some renderings of a potential new restaurant at the old Gallery on New London Turnpike. Market Hospitality Group is proposing exterior enhancements for the facade and landscaping of the building. They have multiple restaurants with different concepts throughout the state. STAY TUNED!
*The town is proposing the construction of a permanent open-air pavilion behind Riverfront Community Center on Welles Street. This is where the Chamber's Summer Concert Series and Applefest is held. Both events need a venue exactly like this! And...wouldn't it be fun to hold more events throughout the year there?! We think so.
