We know it's February, but summer planning starts NOW! What better way to spend a summer than at a pool club where there is something to do EVERY. SINGLE. DAY?! Let's break this down for you...no planning...no whining kids...no problem. Orchard Hill Pool Club has gorgeous grounds and offers something for everyone. Perhaps their biggest draw is their competitive swim team. The kiddos get to be with their friends, exercise, and learn how to compete in the water nearly every day through the month of July. Let's tire these tykes and teens out, people! BUSINESS CONDOS PROPOSED ACROSS FROM MIDDLE SCHOOL
There is a new proposal pending to build business condos across from the entrance to Smith Middle School where the old barns once stood. According to The Hartford Business Journal, the multi-million dollar project will include 20 office condo units if approved. See the location and a rendering of the project below.

TOWN HOMES PROPOSED ON HOUSE STREET
There is currently a proposal in to the Town Plan & Zoning Commission for a new housing development at 103 House Street on the corner of Salmon Brook Drive across from Nutmeg State Financial Credit Union. The plan is calling for 17 new 2-bedroom town homes with parking. This is in the beginning stages. We will keep you posted. Location shown below.
KIDS BOARD NOW HELPING RUN BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT
When you put kids in charge of great things...even greater things happen. The Kids for Kids Basketball Tournament now has it's very own KIDS Board of Directors. The board is made up of six students from all grade levels who applied for the position. The goal is to involve students in the entire process of running a big fundraising event from start to finish. The student board members will be going door to door to local businesses trying to drum up support for the tournament (ummm...amazing, real-life experience). All of the proceeds go to kids in need. *The most adorable little place opened it's doors in Old Wethersfield last week. Grange Fresh (in the Grange Hall building on Main Street) offers fresh, pre-made meals for people on-the-go. See some of their offerings below.
*Local non-profit, Carry My Brother, will host a fundraiser to benefit kids in lower income neighborhoods who cannot afford to play sports. KICK OFF - Your night with Carry My Brother will be held March 26th at Glastonbury Hills Country Club. Andre Dixon, a former UConn running back will be the featured speaker.
