POPULAR COFFEE SPOT TO OPEN NEW LOCATION
Berkins Blend Cafe is expanding to Hartford. The coffee shop will open a second location, called Berkins on Oak in July. It’s near Hartford Superior Court in downtown. They will also expand their offerings to breakfast, lunch, and catering. It’s an exciting time for the small business. They grew mainly through word of mouth and are a favorite of many coffee lovers in Glastonbury. They also just won 2nd place Best Coffee Shop for the CTNOW Best of Hartford Readers’ Poll. FIGS GRAND OPENING
An official welcome to Figs Bistro + Bar! They held their grand opening last week. The restaurant and bar on Main Street in South Glastonbury has been open for about a month. They celebrated with the Chamber during a ribbon cutting ceremony. We look forward to checking them out soon!
MUSIC, FOOD, AND DRINKS AT WIND HILL
Wind Hill Community Farm will host Music at the Farm June 28th. The open space is a gorgeous tract of land overlooking the Connecticut River Valley. JERSEY MIKE’S PREPARES FOR GRAND OPENING
Employees have been hard at work training for the opening of Jersey Mike’s Subs this Wednesday, June 20th. Owners, Beth and McRae Williams, live in Glastonbury and are excited to be part of the local business community. McCrae started his career in food service. He visited a Jersey Mike’s and liked the company’s philosophy of giving back to local charities. Their grand opening promotion will include a contribution to the Glastonbury Education Foundation.
GLEN LOCHEN COFFEE SHOP OPENS
RaonJena Coffee & Dessert officially opens TODAY. They held a soft opening last week. Husband and wife duo, Hanna and Do (Doe) renovated the space and named the shop after their twin daughters. We tasted their iced latte and it was on point! Make sure you stop in and taste for yourself.
ODDS AND ENDS...
*Cherish the Children Foundation will host their 3rd Annual Wine On The River this Thursday, June 21st, at the Glastonbury Boathouse. There will be 20 different wines to taste, craft beer and LIVE music. The organization helps families that have fallen on hard times due to a medical or quality of life challenge, but do not qualify for traditional funding. *Empowered Indoor Cycling Studio is honoring teachers and educators by offering them free classes from June 25th-29th. Email contactus@empoweredstudio.com to sign up.
*Mission Fitness is offering FREE UNLIMITED CLASSES to all active members of the military. Owner, Matthew Mund said he is offering the FREE MEMBERSHIP to military members as a way to honor his father who served in Vietnam.
*Fuller Yoga Pilates and Massage is opening a second studio in West Hartford. Their new space west of the river is at 276 Park Road. They will hold a grand opening July 7th from 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM. There are FREE classes and $7 classes the week of July 9th-15th.
*Congratulations to Hair Today for raising $5000 for The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp! They will continue their fundraising efforts with some ongoing raffles and auctions, including an amazing golf package. They hope to get to their goal of $10,000 when all is said and done. *We love the name of The Best Wine Shop in Town and it’s quaint location along Main Street. They are holding their grand opening with the CT River Valley Chamber of Commerce this Tuesday, June 19th. Along with weekly tastings, they host monthly wine seminars that include tastings and a bottle of wine. Stop in and say hi to owners Cheryl and Tony!
*Tequila’s Grill & Cantina on New London Turnpike is closed for renovations. The new Mexican restaurant opened at the end of March. The owners told us they are not sure how long the reno will take, but they will update us on the progress.
